Each planet features unique abilities that can be used to enhance the player's fleet and Federation, offering up a variety of improvements to be used against opponents in battle. Players expand the influence of their Federation by gaining the support of the citizens of new planets. ![]() Because of the game's modular spaceship design, each ship has many options upgrade options which includes types of weapons on board and shield strength. Players can further customize their game by adjusting the game's difficulty, map size, and galaxy type.ĭuring the course of the game, players customize their fleet to match individualized combat tactics. Each leader comes with its own associated ability. Players also choose a leader, based on Beyond Earth characters. The affinity chosen provides an ability and affects ship appearance. These missions feature dynamically generated maps, a variety of victory conditions, and a multitude of enemy types.Īt the game's outset, players choose their federation's affinity. Players command a fleet through a series of missions centered around the different planets in the galaxy. Sid Meier's Starships is an adventure-driven strategy game where players travel to new planets and complete missions to protect their civilizations from dangerous Space Pirates and hostile opponents. The game also features cross-connectivity with Beyond Earth, increasing the replay value and depth of both games. After humanity has colonized the exoplanets, civilizations begin to seek intergalactic/interplanetary contact and trade with others. One should never get a competitive advantage in MP games simply by paying extra money.Starships is set in the universe of Civilization: Beyond Earth and follows the events of that game. If they didn't want to force everybody who likes MP to buy Starships with these bonuses then this is a very poor design decision that needs to be changed. And being able to plant more cities early and grab more land lets you reach that coveted affinity 13 faster. That's the foundation of the win.Īnd if you think free affinity is not a big deal then you haven't played competitive MP games much, have you? Affinity is a huge deal. You plant your first several cities faster, you grab the precious land. (admittedly you cant get a drone from a tech but its besides the point.) Expanding quickly in the beginning of a MP game is a huge bonus. you know what else can do those things? researching a tech. sure you can get a free affinity or a drone or maybe some advancement on a future tech. and the option that reveals the expedition sites? not as powerful as what people claim. ![]() but it is easy to screw yourself with that bonus. more so then the mercenary bonus you get as well. if you expand too quick you end up with health levels down the drain for a long while and building too many explorers saps your economy in early game. first: the pioneers bonus that allows colonists and explorers to be built twice as fast has in itself all the disadvantages that come with it. i understand how one could think starships is a pay to win for content on civ beyond earth. Supply Module - Begins with 2 resource pods near your first city So far I've gotten the following rewards in Beyond Earth: I can see a list of rewards in Starships - I assume these are rewards that are activated in Beyond Earth that can be turned on in Starships. There are in-game popups that don't really explain what you just received. I haven't been able to find any reference guides to the bonuses/rewards that become available in Beyond Earth from achievements in Starships.
